She didn’t arrive
at this work.
She grew into it.
Elaine Harvey grew up in Ireland in a home where love and safety were present — just not always in the ways a child needs them most.
She did not grow up with a blueprint for what secure, regulated, emotionally available parenting looks like. What she had was an instinct that something was missing. And the quiet, early decision that she was going to understand what it was.
At 22, she moved to London and worked as a nanny. It was there, in someone else’s home with someone else’s children, that things began to crystallise. She watched what it looked like when a child felt safe. When a parent regulated rather than reacted. When routine and warmth existed in the same space without conflict.
She moved to Australia in her late twenties and began what has become a 24-year career as a maternity nurse and early parenting specialist. She has supported over 20,000 families across Australia and internationally.
She became Australia’s first internationally recognised gentle sleep consultant. She serves as Regional Director for Australasia at the International Association of Professional Sleep Consultants. She has built programs, guides, and frameworks that are used by families and professionals across the world.
None of which she leads with.
What she leads with is this: she knows what it is to parent without a model. To love deeply and still wonder if you’re doing it right. To be the first person in your family to try something different — and feel the weight and the loneliness of that.
Mother Me Mothering You is the personal mission arm of everything Elaine does. It is where the professional and personal converge.
She built it for the mother who is trying to break the cycle. Who knows that her nervous system is her child’s first environment. Who is doing the hard, quiet work of becoming someone different to what she was given — not because she’s broken, but because she can see further.
Elaine is also a mother. She has a teenage daughter. She has ADHD and has come to understand rather than fight it. She lives near the beach on the Gold Coast. She does not perform any of this. It is just who she is. And that is exactly why it comes through in everything she does.
